What markers are measured and why is it important to test for them?

The Omega 3 Index Sampling Kit measures blood levels of all 26 fatty acids, the Omega-3 Index, Omega-6:Omega-3 ratios and the Trans Fat Index. The Omega 3 Index measures the content of the two main omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) in red blood cell membranes. A higher proportion of EPA and DHA in the membranes (ideally between 8 and 12%) corresponds to a balanced intake of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and is an indicator of better cardiovascular, eye, brain and joint health. The omega-6/omega-3 ratio analyzes a total of 7 omega-6 fatty acids and 4 omega-3 fatty acids. The ideal ratio of total omega-6 to omega-3 should be in the range of 3-5:1 (omega-6:omega-3). Arachidonic acid (AA), from the omega-6 group, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), from the omega-3 group, are important fatty acids from which important signaling molecules (prostaglandins and eicosanoids) are formed. These molecules influence many processes in the human body, such as blood clotting, blood pressure regulation and inflammatory reactions. A significant disproportion of these two fatty acids in favour of AA could affect the body's inflammatory response and overall health. The optimal range for the ratio of AA:EPA is 2.5:1 to 11:1.

Accurate and Easy to understand

A comprehensive overview of fatty acids using the DBS method (dried blood spot). Unlike regular test kits or labs, we provide detailed information on what your results mean for you, including additional educational sessions, interesting resources and helpful tips.

Comfortable

Anyone can take a simple sample at home according to the instructions and then send the sample with an attached prepaid label. You do not need to visit a testing center.

Actionable

Thanks to the application, you will have an overview of all the tests performed and the results. This allows you to continuously monitor progress and adjust supplementation and other measures to support overall health.

Did you know that...

A more important indicator of health than the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids is the omega 3 index.

Omega tests

The test contains variety of very important pieces of information about the whole range of fatty acids in the blood with the focus on omega 3 and omega 6 fat acids. I find it very insightful and indicative, especially omega index and the ration of omega 6 to omega 3 since the both markers are essential indicators of the vitality of the organism. I am also very satisfied with the price since I bought it via subscription for a much more affordable price than one can find elsewhere at the world market.
