Two years ago, Czech startup Trime set out to provide the market with top-quality dietary supplements to address the most pressing nutritional deficiencies in the population. With its premium supplements crafted "down to the last molecule," Trime has gained immense popularity, nearly tripling its revenue in the past year to over 8 million CZK. The company also introduced a subscription service for regular supplementation, which now accounts for 30% of all orders. Last year, Trime focused on innovating formulations and sourcing the world’s best suppliers. This year, the company aims to expand its product range and begin its entry into the Hungarian market.

“The past year proves that despite the economic crisis, people are unwilling to compromise on their health. They want to supplement the essential nutrients missing from their diet with quality products,” summarizes Michal Kočí, CEO and co-founder of Trime. The startup’s 2022 revenue reached 8.1 million CZK, nearly triple its 3.1 million CZK revenue in 2021. In the summer, Trime launched a subscription service for regular supplement delivery, which now represents 30% of its orders.

New Products and International Expansion

As the first Czech manufacturer of supplements tailored to local consumers, Trime launched three new products last year. These focus on supplementing omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins D3 and K2, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for brain and visual development. These are available in both adult and child-specific formulations. “We chose to source these nutrients exclusively from algae, which offer exceptional purity and processing advantages compared to commonly used fish oil. At Trime, we believe algae represent the future of the supplement industry,” says Kočí.

The startup initially planned to expand to other European markets, particularly Hungary, last year. However, due to market instability, Trime postponed its Hungarian entry to 2023, focusing instead on enhancing its existing product portfolio. “We’ll begin our expansion into the new market soon, as we await the necessary regulatory approvals. This year, we also aim to complete certifications for some of our products, including our first certified organic product,” Kočí adds. The company projects revenue to reach 16 million CZK and plans to launch up to four new products this year.

Supplements Without Compromises

Last year, Trime faced a challenge that forced it to delay its planned international expansion. Due to regulatory hurdles, the company had to withdraw an entire batch of one product from the market. “We used a completely natural rice extract as a filler, which, unlike industrial fillers, has no side effects with long-term use. While this ingredient is used by other premium supplement manufacturers and has been sold as a food product in the Czech Republic, its reclassification as an additive led to unnecessary regulatory complications and product withdrawals,” explains Kočí.

Trime’s meticulous, "down-to-the-last-molecule" approach sets it apart from most manufacturers in both the local and European markets. The startup uses premium raw materials, tracking every step of the process—from sourcing and processing to ensuring quality and safety. This is combined with proprietary production techniques to maintain product stability and efficacy without fillers or additives. For complex formulations, Trime employs gentle processing and develops vitamins and minerals with maximum bioavailability.

Founded in 2020, Trime was the first Czech startup to produce premium dietary supplements. It was the first to introduce a multivitamin “tailored to Czechs,” designed based on the nutritional profile of local consumers, geographical conditions, and dietary habits.
